Since this site became
operational in the summer of 2000, we have upgraded, both the content and the
technology. On the content side, we have added courses, maps, digital
pictures, getaways, web links, the golf league and now our super interactive
local golf map. On the
technology side, we have improved browser performance across platforms and made
the web site more exciting and appealing to the eye. We hope you come back often as we continue
to grow and improve. Our philosophy here at GOLFCLEVELANDOHIO.COM is:
"Life is too short to play lousy golf or at least lousy golf courses."
Courses
are only rated if they have been played, and we are adding more courses all
the time. Courses are played more than once (unless it's a golf trip course
in which case, we are lucky to play them more than once) and the ratings are based on opinion.
Greens fees, clubhouses or friendly atmospheres really didn't factor into the
equation. We were looking strictly at the courses and not all the superfluous
things involved in golf, like sandwiches or driving ranges. Items like shot
value, layout, conditioning, playability, aesthetics and pace of play weight heavily. However,
if the greens fees were excessive or the staff rude, you will see it noted. The score for any
particular course is cross compared with comparable courses for
consistency, then averaged among the scores of various GCO.com staff members.
A score of 100 is the absolute best golfing experience you can imagine
whereas a GCO score of 0 would be the absolute worst golf experience of your
life. Commentary and input from our vast audience and the golf courses
themselves often prompt a re-visit to a course. You can be sure we are
bringing you cutting edge golf information for North East Ohio.
See Golfclevelandohio.com playing golf at Tanglewood Country Club on August 5, 2003 with Nicko McBrain and Dave Murray of Iron Maiden the night before the show at Blossom Music Center. Great musicians as well as great all around guys and fine golfers.
