The
GCO Fall League will tee
off on
Saturdays, late morning to noon, beginning in late September until late
November or December, when it snows or we cannot find an open golf course. This
will be an 18-hole, semi-traveling league. We alternate between
the outstanding Grey Hawk and Shale Creek golf courses.
The basic idea is to keep the
serious golfers active during the late season when it starts to become hard to
find someone to golf with. If you do not mind playing golf in October and November
temperatures, this league is for you. We will be teeing from the box
closest to 6600 yards. The maximum 18 hole handicap is 28. This will be the first year for the GCO Fall
League and we do have some carryover players from our highly successful
Summer League. We are looking carry a league of about 20 players. The league dues will be $10.00
and there will be a $5.00 weekly entrance fee. The format will be
weekly handicapped tournaments with weekly winnings. We will play
net-low, skins, stableford, 2-man best ball, and other competitive games, but
not match play. There will be no running
total points, just weekly events, so if you miss a few weeks, it won't
really matter. However,
we do expect substantial attendance. We
will track handicaps, winners, schedule and some stats on the web. You
will be required to pay your own greens fees and cart fee at the
golf course.
